Bi-communal film festival “with brand-new eyes”11-12/6/2010,20.00,Ledra Street checkpoint

The Cultural Organization Culture in Action and the Platform of GreekCypriot and TurkishCypriot Teachers “United Cyprus” are organizing a two day short-film festival named “With Brand-new Eyes”. The festival will take place on the 11th and 12th of June 2010 at the “Peace” Cultural Place of the Municipality of Lefkosia,at the end of Ledra street.

The event is sponsored by the ‘ENGAGE’ Project,which is a program run by the NGO Support Centre and the Management Centre. This program’s main goal is the interaction between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities for aspects of the Cyprus reality,through strengthening the role of the Civil Society,and networking of several NGOs. The aim of the particular event is the revitalization of the historic centre of Nicosia,as well as the meeting of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots in the context of a cultural event with elements from the culture of both communities. Work of well-known as well as young film-makers,such as Adonis Florides,Yianna Amerikanou,Ioakeim Mylonas,Kiros Papavasiliou,Vasvi Ciftcioglu,Esra Ummak will be shown.

You are invited on the 11th and 12th of June 2010 at 8 p.m. in a two hour screening of short films by both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot film makers. On Friday between the screenings we will have discussion with the creators,while on Saturday a party will follow the screenings.

Ο Πολιτιστικός Οργανισμός Culture in Action και η Πλατφόρμα Ελληνοκυπρίων και Τουρκοκυπρίων Εκπαιδευτικών «Ενωμένη Κύπρος»,διοργανώνουν ένα διήμερο Δικοινοτικό Φεστιβάλ Ταινιών Μικρού Μήκους με τίτλο “With Brand-new Eyes” στις 11 και 12 Ιουνίου 2010 στην αίθουσα του Δημαρχείου Λευκωσίας «Ειρήνη» στο τέρμα του πεζόδρομου Λήδρας.

Το Φεστιβάλ διοργανώνεται με τη στήριξη του NGO Support Centre και του Management Centre στα πλαίσια του προγράμματος ‘ENGAGE’,που έχει στόχο την αλληλεπίδραση των δυο κοινοτήτων στην Κύπρο στα πλαίσια κοινωνικών θεμάτων και τη δικτύωση μη κυβερνητικών οργανώσεων. Σκοπός του Φεστιβάλ είναι η αναζωογόνηση του ιστορικού κέντρου της Λευκωσίας μέσα από την συνάντηση Ελληνοκυπρίων και Τουρκοκυπρίων δημιουργών σε ένα πολιτιστικό πλαίσιο με στοιχεία και από τις δύο κοινότητες. Θα προβληθούν έργα γνωστών αλλά και νέων σκηνοθετών,όπως του Ιωακείμ Μυλωνάς,της Γιάννας Αμερικάνου,του Κύρου Παπαβασιλείου,του Vasvi Ciftcioglu,του Esra Ummak και πολλών άλλων καλλιτεχνών.

Την Παρασκευή 11 και το Σάββατο 12 Ιουνίου στις 8 το βράδυ,σας προσκαλούμε σε μια δίωρη προβολή ταινιών μικρού μήκους Ελληνοκυπρίων και Τουρκοκυπρίων σκηνοθετών. Την Παρασκευή μετά την προβολή των ταινιών θα ακολουθήσει συζήτηση με κάποιους από τους δημιουργούς,ενώ το Σάββατο θα ακολουθήσει πάρτι στον ίδιο χώρο.
